Posture Information | Back Support Belt

It's on rare occasion that I provide a back support belt for my patients. The back support belt is reserved for those that are very unstable
and in a lot of pain without the additional support.
Lately, though, I've seen the back support belt becoming more of a daily accessory for those people looking "for a little extra support." I
can't stress enough the damage this can cause.
When muscles are strong, adding an additional support makes them even stronger (for a short time). When someone needs additional support
because their back goes into spasm without it, a back support belt can really help (for a short time).
When the belt becomes something that is worn every day. The muscles begin to grow weaker until taking off the back support belt must be done
in small doses to make sure that the back doesn't go into spasm.
The solution? Increase the strength of your postural muscles. Allow your improved posture to act as a muscular back support that you don't
need to worry about how long you're wearing.
Improving posture provides the "additional support" you need.
